("To my heart, on Sunday" inspired by Wislawa Szymboska)
As we celebrate the new beginning of life in spring, we would like to wrap up the Virtual Vietnamese Language Table with the "National Poetry Month Celebration" in April at 1:00 pm (EST) on Sunday, April 30, 2023.
The Title of Poetry Reading Session will be "To my heart, on Sunday" inspired by Wislawa Szymboska. I will read this poem in Vietnamese.
There will be more poems to be shared at the last Sunday of the final Vietnamese Language Table on April 30, 2023.
I would like to share my favorite poem in celebration of Spring, overcoming Winter, by a Vietnamese poet, Trần Dần. The poem "Một tia hy vọng" is a ray of hope (instead of a spark of hope) because I love to see hope as a ray of sunshine than a spark of fire. ( Một tia hy vọng is not only my favorite poem but also the beacon of light in my journey from winter to spring)
A ray of hope - Trần Dần
for those who are hopeless
On those nights that moon and stars are absent
On those days that sunshine is silent
Those people are going through hard times
Those times of never ending rain and storms
Those helpless hands that are raising up
Those times of darkness
Those lives without light
My love,
Those pieces of life are facing with stormy weather
When one has only a single choice to die
Let us keep just one ray of hope
Just one ray of hope only
To Love and Win
This is my self-portrait, coming out of the darkness of winter and the pandemic growing glowingly green anew with life. Come and celebrate April with me and Vietnamese Language Table.
